Spontaneous Boudoir Photoshoot in Knoxville
That’s right! It was a complete surprise! I did a spontaneous, spur of the moment Boudoir photoshoot in Knoxville for women who I have never met. I always come up with random ideas when I’m either in the shower or washing dishes (hmm weird, what is it about water that helps me think?) lol I was in-between Boudoir sessions currently and had the itch to take some photos. I couldn’t wait another week for my scheduled session, so I thought to myself, let’s take it to the streets! I follow a few street photographers on TikTok and love watching how they find random people and give them a quick 5 minute photo shoot. I thought to myself, “but how can I incorporate this into my normal Boudoir photography flow?”. I can’t just have random women pose in lingerie in the streets without one of us getting in trouble. So I came up with the idea of Women’s empowerment mini sessions as a Boudoir photoshoot in Knoxville. A quick 5 minute session where I can take random women and ask if they’d like their photo taken to show that women are beautiful no matter what and to help see themselves through a different lens. I was definitely nervous, so I asked my friend who is an inspiring photographer to go with me. She was so excited which made this even more fun! I told her, “this can either go amazingly smooth, or this can go terribly wrong and I could be rejected by all of them.” lol. It was a random Monday night so I wasn’t sure what type of crowd usually floods downtown Knoxville.
When we arrived, we scoped out the scene. Surprisingly, there were quite a few people out and about that night. We saw two girls sitting at a table and the one had a cute outfit on that was unique. I walked up to the girls, introduced myself, and asked if either one would like to have a Boudoir photoshoot done here with our beautiful Knoxville surroundings. The one girl with the adorable outfit agreed to it and I told her I’ll just pose her in 3 different poses to show off her beautiful curves. She was a natural! And afterwards, she said it was actually quite fun. That made my night!
The lights behind her coming from the restaurant in Market Square added the perfect touch! She was a natural and I later found out that the other girl sitting with her was her cousin so she was cheering her on from the sidelines. This helped me get a little bit more comfortable with going up to random women throughout the night. I was able to gain more confidence and knew what to do the next time with posing. I tried to find different locations throughout downtown Knoxville, but we were running out of daylight.
Next, I found a woman with her boyfriend and it looked like they had just finished dinner. I was hesitant to bother her, but she carried herself well and I loved her dressed down look, so I took the opportunity. She was very shy at first and I didn’t want to make her feel like she had to so I just handed her my card and told her if she’d like a shoot in the future, to call me. Her boyfriend and her had a glance and she had a change of heart. She said she’s never done anything like this before and would like to try it. I am so glad she did because I was able to show her a different side to her that she never saw in herself. After I took her photo, she looked at the back of my camera and said, “There’s no way that’s me!”. It’s those types of moments that I live for. I am hoping that this little Boudoir photoshoot in Knoxville, helped boost some self confidence for her. I told her, you Should Compliment Yourself more often because you are gorgeous and I’m sure your boyfriend here agrees! She looked up my information because the next day, I received this message from her:
That right there made me think that I had made the right decision. I was meant to go downtown and do these Boudoir photoshoots in Knoxville that night. I believe everything happens for a reason. And maybe by her coming out of her comfort zone for this, she made a leap of faith with something else in her life too!
We were about to pack up our things after a couple more shoots and we came across a group of young women getting out of a car. They were dressed to party and I just couldn’t miss the opportunity with them. I wasn’t planning on photographing a group of women, but I asked them anyways. Come to find out, it was one of the girls 25th birthday and they were out to celebrate. It was a great group of girls and I was hoping I could start their night out with a spontaneous photo shoot. Of course they were up for it!
Oh I remember those days of being wild and free! Haha. Seriously, who says you can’t do that now? When you’re 30, 40, 50? You should celebrate any chance you can, especially with some type of feel good event. I do however, recommend Celebrating a milestone with a Boudoir Session. I can’t think of a better way to spoil yourself.
