Why the time is now to book a Boudoir session…
Every time someone asks me what I do for a living and I tell them that I’m a professional Boudoir photographer, most of them react with “Wow that’s amazing, I have always wanted to do a Boudoir session but I’m waiting to lose some weight first”. And that’s probably what your thinking right now too, isn’t it? That’s our way of letting ourselves down lightly by hoping that “one day” we will be able to shed the pounds and book the Boudoir session we’ve always wanted. We are our own worst critics. And by saying this, we really are telling ourselves that we need to lose weight in order to be beautiful. This is the complete opposite of what Boudoir Photography actually means. The whole point of booking a Boudoir session is to love yourself NOW, not 6 months from now, not a year from now, this very moment in time.
Let’s be honest, life happens. Are we ever going to truly be the ideal weight we want to be? Probably not. As we age, our body puts on weight easier and especially if we have a job that requires us to sit at a desk most of the day. We aren’t as active as we were in our teen years. This is why the time is now to book a Boudoir session. Finding the right Boudoir photographer plays a significant role in your self-love journey. Your experience can either be uplifting and confidence boosting, or it can be traumatic. It’s soooo important to find the right Boudoir photographer who will listen to your concerns that you have regarding your body and have the expertise to pose you in specific ways to emphasize the parts that you love about yourself. Lighting and posing both play a significant role in your final images. Certain lighting techniques can be more flattering to the body while other lighting can be very unappealing. There are also different kinds of Lingerie For Your Body Type which play a huge part in how you look. Certain types of lingerie or outfits look more flattering on different body types.
You can see here, the difference in posing. Just by switching the weight and popping the hip a bit more, it really accentuates the booty.
There are so many other parts of the body that can be accentuated or removed from the main focus depending on the client’s comfort level. Boudoir photography is an empowering experience that I wish every woman could experience. I’m sure you could come up with a few reasons as to why you shouldn’t book a Boudoir Session but if money, fear, and looks aren’t a concern then we need to think about what else could be preventing you from booking your Boudoir session now. I can explain why the time is now to book a Boudoir session just off of that information stated already, but there are also a few more reasons I haven’t mentioned yet.
- You deserve it because you always put your family first and never have time for yourself.
- You should be allowed to pamper yourself every once in a while
- Your husband/significant other would love to see you see yourself in a different light so you can get a glimmer of how they see you everyday
- Your body is beautiful and you deserve to love the skin you’re in
- Every woman should feel sexy
- Seeing yourself in a different light is life changing. It can not only boost your self confidence but ignite a fire inside of you that you didn’t know you had
- You are worth of self-love
- You don’t need to lose weight to feel beautiful
- Boudoir sessions are part of self-care. How can you take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself?
As for the price tag being a concern, that is definitely a set back but it shouldn’t prevent you from booking a Boudoir session. Most photographers offer pre-payment plans to fit your budget. Boudoir is a luxury experience which includes luxury prices. Here is some more information on Why are Boudoir Sessions so expensive? and how we can switch our mindset to how it is worth it when it comes to ourselves and starting to love the body we have at this very moment in time.
Look around, most women have average bodies. We have had children, stressors in our lives, different types of jobs, hormone imbalances, etc. Who can truly define the ideal woman? Marilyn Monroe, is a perfect example. She was the definition of beauty, curves and all. She is what a woman looks like and embraces all flaws and still felt beautiful. It is all in the way we carry ourselves and the amount of self confidence that we have.
Boudoir sessions can hep increase our confidence levels. Every woman has flaws. Every man has flaws. It human nature. In a world surrounded by social media and filters added to videos and photographs, who knows what a person actually looks like anymore? We have plastered filters on our photos to clear our skin, make our hair shine, and give our skin that extra glow. That’s not REAL! What is real is the mom who wears clothes stained in baby food and hasn’t showered in two days while she’s home taking care of her child or children. What’s real is body acne, cellulite, and wrinkles. We see others and we think, “Wow, I really love their confidence”, or “they have aged really well”. Others look at you and think that you are beautiful. We just don’t see it in ourselves because we are truly our own worst critics. But we actually haven’t seen ourselves in true form. We constantly look at our reflections, reversing the image and looking back at a person that doesn’t really look like that in real life. Have you heard of the True Mirror? It is actually a mirror you look into but see your true self (not a reversed image in a reflection). Click here to learn more about the True mirror.
The time is now. And it’s free to call your local Boudoir photographer and schedule a pre-consolation appointment. It doesn’t hurt by gaining more information. In the end, it is up to you if you chose to book a session or not, but you’ll only have regrets of not doing it. Give it a try. See how you feel. You might just surprise yourself!
